Known otherwise as Lucite, or Plexiglass. Acrylic is a hard plastic that is easy to cut and comes out with a glossy edge when cut on a laser.
We typically source cast acrylic, however we can also source extruded in limited varieties. Though it can be hard to tell which is which, choosing the right one for your project may improve the outcome.
Cast acrylic has a wider tolerance for variation in thickness of about +/-15%. Extruded acrylic has a tighter tolerance of about +/-5%. For etching applications, cast acrylic will produce a lighter color than extruded. Cast acrylic tends to be more scratch resistant, and is available in more variations.
We are able to cut up to 1/4″ thick acrylic. We also offer sourcing for 1/4″, 1/8″, and 1/16″ sheets in a wide variety of colors. If the material thickness is critical to your design, take a metric measurement from your material as the standard listings are usually nominal measurements.
We do not offer assembly services, though we may be able to offer recommendations to help move your project along. For more information, send us an email at: email@example.com with a description of your project and any files that might help us produce an estimate for you.
Clear Plexi is usually the most economical option among acrylics. It is optically clear, and the laser produces bright glossy edges.
Opaque acrylic is available in many colors. It can be purchased with a glossy finish as well as a matte finish in some colors.
Mirrored, Iridescent, and Pearlescent acrylics are also available. We have the experience and attention to detail to cut these correctly without hazing or cracking.
